It’s the kind of day that the crew has sleep deprivation from the weekend and looks a little under the weather…….. But it doesn’t stop the Fun……5-K Run…..Car-Rally….Road Trips…Prizes…..Trophies…..Food…..Drinks Starts and Stops at “Second Avenue Pizza” Silly Stuff and Loads of Fun…Check it OUT!

Go back to the year 1986………that was the beginning of creating “Going back in Time” the “Era” was when Music and Cars were King along with “Elvis”!  The place was in a small town in the Panhandle of Idaho….  The question at the time was “would anyone come with their favorite Cruiser all polished and the music cranked up, just to find out what it was all about?”  Now that 25 years have passed and we have made so many friends across the country …we can only be grateful that the vision was one that everyone would come to love.  It took a mere 25 years to see our love of “Lost in the 50’s” to be recognized by a national magazine.  “Street Rodder” we appreciate you to the fullest….. to share with Rodders everywhere just before the 25th Celebration!  And to all who have been those “Die Hard Fans” with or without cars…those who stood in the rain to watch the parades…. for every volunteer that has given their time and support…. to the Sponsors through the years, there are not enough words to say thank you for believing in us and this community!  Our hats are off to All….“You are all a part of the Magic”

     By asking past guest artists who should we bring to our event each and everyone said “Mr. Entertainment”….  Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone.   Starting at the age of 15 in 1964 it was the beginning of the British Invasion… he became an instant teen idol with Great songs like… “There’s a Kind of Hush … I’m into Something Good….  I know Why…. Can’t You Hear My Heartbeat…. Wonderful World….. Mrs. Brown You’ve got a Lovely Daughter…..Just a Little Bit Closer… I’m Henry the VIII, I am…” the list goes on and on……Herman’s Hermits out sold any another recording act in 1965 & 1966 including the Beatles.  They had 14 singles and 7 albums that went Gold…and they were named twice as Cashbox’s “Entertainer of the Year.” Peter and the Hermits consistently play to sold out venues all over the World… there is some fun to be had on Friday Night this year!!!!

      In 1959 there was a group called the “Blenders”… and in 1960 this same group changed their name to “The Contours.” They got an audition with Barry Gordy’s Motown Records and immediately were turned away… not giving up they went to one of the members cousin, “Jackie Wilson” for help. This gave them a second chance and they received a record deal and hadn’t even changed a note from the first audition. Although this group went through many changes as did most groups with guys leaving for one reason or another… they had several songs come out before they hit gold with “Do You Love Me” a # 1 on R&B..…#3 on the Top 40 and #2 on the Hot 100….it stayed for five months and they are ranked as one of the top 500 R&B Artists of All Times. With songs like… “Whole Lotta Woman”… “Come on and Be Mine”…. “Get Ready”… “Can you Jerk like Me.” This Saturday show ought to swing like the Movie “Dirty Dancing” which put their #1 hit so far over the top… and sold more records than when it was first released in 1962…….. it will always bring to mind Patrick Swayze!

     Born in Brooklyn, Jon Bauman is the ultimate “Greaser”, a character created in 1969 for the singing group “Sha-na-na.” He was a major part and voice of the group for 14 years and who had their own very successful TV series that at it’s peak was the #1 syndicated show in America. Jon has an amazing background, starting at the piano at 7 as a child prodigy and going to The Juilliard School at the age of 12. Jon’s talents are many but for us at “Lost in the 50’s” he’s a friend and Great fun to have as an MC and he and the Stingrays will bring everyone back to the music we started from in those early years….

     As for our House Band “Rocky and the Rollers”… there are not enough words to let people know how much they mean to our organization… we said it before and we’ll say it again…. “They are one of the Cornerstones to a Fan-tastic Weekend in Sandpoint, Idaho”… You need to come and help us  Celebrate what volunteers can make happen for 25 years……..
